Probasee

Probasee Bengalee Association of New Zealand Inc, was formed by the Bengalee community in 1998. Probasee is a cultural organisation primarily consisting of Bengalee speaking members, with the primary objective of upholding Bengalee Art, culture, literature etc . in this distant land.

Up until the year 1994 or so, there were only a handful of Bengalee families living in New Zealand. This of course did not deter us from organising the very first 'Durga Puja' in 1992, proving that we possess that unique knack of finding ways and means to make ourselves feel at home, wherever we go.

"Probasee Bengalee Association of NZ Inc"  now organise annual events like Durga Puja, Saraswati Puja, Laxmi Puja, Rabindra Nazrul Sandhya, Sports Events etc.

In keeping with Probasee’s role and commitment to maintain the migrant Bengalis’ connection with their roots,  BanglaLlibrary started few years back.  Bangla library has always been an integral part of Probasee. We are proud to hold an impressive collection of classic bangla novels and non-fictions, Bangla Film CD’s and DVD’s.

Currently membership numbers are over 100 families, mostly Auckland based.
